Sheila’s Baby Frame

Hi everyone (anyone?),

I made this adorable little frame Saturday night, before Easter. My coworker’s daughter is have a baby girl, so I set out to make something super girly for her. (Watch, the kid is going to grow up to be a tom boy!)

I found this amazing paper stack on clearance at JoAnne’s and the letters came from Marshall’s. Who knew they had crafting stuff? Me neither.

The actual steps are very simple. You simply glue a piece of paper that you like to the front of the frame and cut it out. It’s the embellishments that really make this project shine (no really, there’s glitter and Stickles)!

I added a brown marker edging to the letters to make them stand out a bit more from the paper. I also added a marker border to the flowers, in each of their colors. Then I added a pearl jewel to the center.

I also used marker to embellish some of the designs on the frame itself. I haven’t used this super expensive Prisma Color markers since I graduated college over a year ago. It was fun to work with them again. Made me miss class. (A very insane thought, because I really wanted to be done with school so that I could move on the money-making part of my life.) I also added Stickles to the inside of the big flower on top and the butterfly.

One more thing I did, was to cover the backing of where the picture is supposed to go with matching paper and then cover it in Tim Holtz Distress Ink. It makes that part stand out more for when I give it to the mother and it showcases my OCD.

P.S. I also started a frame for my brother and sister-in-law’s baby. That one I can’t reveal until the shower, because they read my blog. We don’t know the sex of peanut, but a gender neutral baby gift is a fun challenge.
